We are a non-profit organization that catalyzes resources in alliance with governments, civil society and the private sector to generate transformative changes in the sustainable use of natural resources.
Conservation and sustainable management of areas and natural resources
It consists of contributing to the restoration and conservation of ecosystems and their ecosystem services, to ensure the livelihoods of communities and promote the implementation of initiatives for sustainable use and management of biological resources in areas that for their function, genetic values, historical, scenic, recreational, archaeological, protective or considered a critical ecosystem, are of interest for conservation.
It is recommended to include actions and processes that guarantee the rehabilitation, restoration and sustainable use of biological resources of protected areas or areas of ecological importance; the promotion of research that allows the implementation of restoration measures; baseline surveys and management mainly in the core zones of biosphere reserves, including support for livelihoods and local enterprises.
CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABLE USE OF COASTAL-MARINE RESOURCES
To improve the quality of life of communities dependent on marine coastal resources and ensure their contribution to national economic development, while conserving and rehabilitating the biological diversity and productivity of these ecosystems.
It includes actions such as: Creation of incentives that stimulate efficiency in the management and protection of coastal marine ecosystems; promotion of good practices and responsibility related to the sustained use of these resources; documentation of lessons learned and successful management cases; advocacy in public policy reforms related to these: Sustainable tourism, responsible fishing practices, control of coastal marine pollution and the promotion of multisectoral spaces; research on environmental impacts and restorative actions, with special attention to load capacity limitations, including lakes, lagoons and bays.
Sustainable Agriculture and Livestock
These are all agricultural and livestock systems whose fundamental objective is food security, without damaging the environment, preserving soil fertility and promoting productive economic development in a sustainable manner over time.
It includes all those innovative environmentally friendly actions, such as: Promotion of organic agriculture with emphasis on the use of Mountain Microrganisms, green manures, among others; also, change intensive livestock for more efficient systems and less environmental impact, such as systems of housing, improved pastures, among others. Likewise, the productive chain and strengthening of the business organization should be supported with alliances or investment mechanisms.
Restoration of degraded areas
These are actions aimed at recovering the landscape and reducing the environmental vulnerability of a territory, among which are: Recovering forest cover mainly with dual-function species, improving soil fertility, increasing water catchment, reintroduction of species of fauna and flora, decontamination, technology transfer, gully control, strengthening of intersectoral spaces, with support from Environmental Units, Ministry of Agriculture and Associations of Producers and Producers, who help reverse their state of deterioration.
MANAGEMENT OF HYDROGRAPHIC CUECAS
Contribute to the socioeconomic development and improvement of the quality of life of the communities, including all those activities under a basin plan and management that considers water as a strategic and integrating resource.
Among the actions needed to manage a watershed are: Techniques and works for soil and water conservation, implementation of agroforestry systems, control of gullies and torrents, water infiltration systems, fruit crops in farm diversification, among others.
Local economy and productive initiatives
These are all those initiatives that support the associativity of entrepreneurial groups related to production, processing, distribution, integrated consumption for the improvement of local or community economies; it is based on the articulation of efforts with key actors in the territory to generate employment, improvements in income and the quality of life of the population.
Productive initiatives could include: agricultural and livestock production, garment production, food preparation, artisanal products, service workshops, training and specialization of entrepreneurial skills and competencies, marketing and marketing studies, among others.
It is an economically important activity that allows to enjoy and appreciate natural, social and cultural attractions present in the communities; through a process that promotes conservation, generated goods and services to the families of the environment, for it is required to strengthen local capacities in: organization, planning, entrepreneurial skills, business administration, quality and customer service, as well as creating conditions with basic infrastructure of low environmental impact and the necessary publicity, which allows to create the logistics and necessary conditions for the attention of visitors.
